Tips on Storing Your Items
Some people might thing that there isn't a right way to put things in storage unit. However over the years we've learned a few things that really do help when storing your items in your storage unit. Some of the following are things that will save time and potential headaches later.
1. One of the first things is to determine what size of storage unit you will need. A great way to know what size will fit your belonging is by looking at a size guide chart. There are many on the internet, and we have a real basic one on our rent storage page of this website.
This will help you know if your belongings will fit or not. Nobody want's to move there items twice, once into a storage unit, then again into a bigger storage unit because they didn't fit.
2. Before you actually start packing your items up make sure you have a good sharpie, plenty of boxes, packing material, and tape. As you pack be smart with your valuables. Most storage facilities don't provide insurance for your items, so you will want to make sure they are safe and protected the best that you can. Another thing you will want to do is properly label each box that you pack, because it's a pain in the butt if you ever have to go back to your unit later just for that one thing you packed away in storage to rediscover that you have about 30 of the same looking boxes with no labels.
3. When storing your items, place the heavier bulkier items closer to the floor and the back of the storage unit. Also create an isle from the front of the unit to the back of the unit if you can. For large storage units you may need to create more than one isle. As your storing your belongings remember to face the labels towards the isles, or towards the front of the unit. This will help you out later.
4. Finally remember to get a good safe solid lock for your door. I would recommend using a disc lock, these locks are great because they give no room for bolt cutters to get in to cut the lock.
